From start to finish, Pleasanton North Rotary (PNR) played a prominent role at the 2021 District 5170 conference July 17 at Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park, Gilroy.
The club had the privilege of being mentioned by recently inducted District 5170 District Governor Richard Flanders in his inaugural comments to club members. Pointing to his PNR membership, Gov. Flanders described how he has seen the public image of his club grow with expanded membership, increased participation in District 5170 and Rotary International programs, and its support for Rotary Foundation.
“I cannot and would not be district governor without the support of members of my Rotary club,” he said. “I am very proud of my club and its members.”
Gov. Flanders said his primary focus as governor will be to help all 61 clubs in his district. He admitted it will be a challenge to realize his ambitious goals for membership growth, support of the Rotary Foundation and the club’s public image. “We need to do this together,” he said. “We need to have each Rotarian engage in the work of our organization.”
Flanders and PNR Presented Home Club Banner
In keeping with this year’s country western theme for the Rotary District 5170 Conference, Pleasanton North Rotary can hang it high. In closing ceremonies, District Gov. Richard Flanders and PNR members were presented with the Home Club banner celebrating Richard’s leadership. It will be proudly displayed at club and district events for the next year.
Mark Linsky Honored as Rotary International Major Donor
At this year’s District 5170 Conference, the PNR’s Mark Linsky was recognized with a Level 1 Major Award for donating more than $10,000 over time to the Rotary Foundation. In addition to a bottle of Michell Katz Sparkling Wine, Mark will receive his choice of the crystal recognition statuette or lapel pin.
PNR Shares Top House of Friendship Award with Gilroy Rotary
PNR members W. Ron Sutton (left), Mark Linsky (right) and Jim Brice (not shown) were surprised to learn the club’s House of Friendship exhibit featuring the annual Tri-Valley Turkey Burn Family Walk-Run would share the “HOFI” trophy with Gilroy Rotary for the best theme decoration at the House of Friendship. The exhibit advised clubs on how to repeat PNR’s success with its annual Thanksgiving morning fund-raiser.
