Pleasanton North Rotary singled out three Foothill High School student for honors as students of the month at its Dec. 10th weekly meeting.
The Foothill Administrative team recognized Christian Rowland (left) for his leadership of a group called “The Blue Crew.” It leads cheers and lends support at athletic events through the year. He is also involved with producing the annual Foothill Rap, a music video that punctuates the school’s support for its football team before games against cross-town rivals at Amador High.
Next to Christian, Claire Van Horn was nominated for her emotional maturity and work ethic by English Teacher Erin Pagtakhan. She is that one student who always stays after class to encourage her teachers. She even sent an email message to Pagtakhan to express sympathy after her teacher informed the class her mother was in declining health.
Keyri Ramos Munoz was unable to attend the award ceremonies. Fluent in English and Spanish, Keyri has applied her bilingual skills to translate assignments for two Spanish-speaking classmates in Art 1 class. Such assistance has been invaluable for Teacher Trish Fenton. She believes Monoz has been a lifeline for these students academically and for making them feel welcome in the classroom.
To the right of Claire is PNR Secretary Sara Williams and Foothill Principal Sebastian Bush, who announced the awards.
