2021 RYLA Graduates Describe Their Virtual Experience

From left: Arya Krishna, Ishani Shah, and Ryan Pantig reflected on their experience the 2021 virtual version of RYLA Camp at PNR’s July 9th meeting.

The three recipients of PNR scholarship for Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) camp addressed the club July 9th on their experiences during last year’s virtual (Zoom) version for RYLA.

The week-long camp typically brings more than 200 scholarship winners together from District 5170 clubs for the week-long camp in mid-June at Scott’s Valley in San Mateo County. Past campers remember RYLA as a life-affirming experience where they made friends, completed projects, and learned leadership skills.

Ishani Shah said she enjoyed the welcoming environment RYLA counselors created for the everyone. Arya Krishna said everyone was determined to make the most of the situation. She learned the value of positive attitudes. Ryan Pantig learned to be more grateful for his community, families, and upbringing.
