PNR Recognizes Foothill High Students of the Month

Foothill High School students Alalynn “Aly” Tran and Anirudh Murugesan were honored as Students of the Month at PNR’s Feb. 19th meeting.

Social Studies instructor David Middleton described Aly as an attentive student, known for asking excellent questions. He emphasized how the sophomore has provided fellow students and teachers with positive feedback and encouragement in class. She has also volunteered to perform songs that help classmates learn challenging concepts. “She is awesome,” he said.

In a written statement, nominating faculty member Donna DeGiobbi endorsed “Ani” Murugesan’s scholastic and athletic accomplishments of the Foothill senior. She credited his exceptional academic record to “his intellectual curiosity and insight, his determination and drive.“

At 6-feet 5-inches, Ani is also a talented member of the Foothill High varsity basketball team. The maturity he’s shown on the court has extended to family, friends, and fellow Foothill students, according to Ms. DeGiobbi. During this incredibly difficult year, Ani solicited donations of new and used athletic equipment, which was distributed to young people who could not otherwise afford such gear.

“Ani is the kind of student every teacher dreams of having in their classroom and the kind of young man the world so desperately needs,” she said.
